The Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting says that Da Nang will experience sunny weather during the daytime and high temperatures will scorch the city with maximum temperature expected to touch 29-33 degrees Celsius from April 29 into May 1. Chances for rain showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop in the city during afternoon and night hours in these days under the influence of a low pressure trough. Showers can be isolated and scattered across the city.

The regional weather service also issued hot weather advice as temperatures are expected to rise from May 2- 3 with maximum temperature expected to hit 29-35 degrees Celsius. In addition, isolated showers are expected in the city during late afternoon hours but no rain is in forecast for the city during night hours.

Viet Nam’s National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control is urging authorities in the northern and central regions, to take proactive and necessary mitigation measures in response to thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds, greatly affecting the production and social life in order to minimize losses owing to thunderstorms. The warnings will be in effect from late April into May 3, especially during public holidays in April and May.

Authorities in affected areas must keep a close watch on severe weather development, and keep local residents and tourists timely informed about severe weather conditions, as well as give advice to them on how to stay safe during a thunderstorm.

Importance should be attached to creating effective response plan for severe weather events that details the actions to be taken by local authorities to ensure the safety of local citizens and tourists in their localities with high priority given to crowded and coastal areas, islands, tourist sites and other vulnerable areas.
