Da Nang was ranked fifth among 63 provinces and cities nationwide in the Provincial Green Index (PGI) rankings 2022.

The result was announced at a ceremony on Tuesday morning to announce the 2022 PCI rankings which was co-hosted by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Accordingly, Tra Vinh Province topped the PGI rankings 2022, followed by Lang Son, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh and Da Nang. These localities have average scores with 90% confidence intervals.

The PGI is an index for evaluating and ranking environmental quality in 63 provinces and cities from the perspective of enterprises, the application of environmentally friendly technology in the enterprises, the environmental behaviour of enterprises, and the level of willingness to invest in the environment in localities.

The goal of the green index is to encourage provinces and cities in Viet Nam to pay greater attention to economic development associated with environmental protection, provide timely information to support provincial administration in policy planning, promote the construction of an eco-friendly business ecosystem, and contribute to attracting investors with environmental awareness and quality “green” projects for Viet Nam.
