More than 700 volunteers involved in cleaning up Son Tra Peninsula
Over 700 volunteers joined the ‘Clean up Son Tra - for a Green Son Tra’ programme 2023 on Saturday morning.

As part of the opening programme of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season 2023, the cleanup programme was jointly organised by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, the city’s Union of Science and Technology Associations, the municipal Youth Union, the Students Association, and the Green Viet Biodiversity Conservation Center (GreenViet).

The volunteers cleaned up the junction of Le Van Luong - Green Lake - Linh Ung Pagoda - Nam Beach - flower garden in front of the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, as well as planted 75 purple linden and phoenix trees at the Vong Canh Hill, the Ban Co Peak (Chess Board Peak), the thousand-year-old banyan tree, the Tien Sa and Yet Kieu stations and the CT15 wharf.

At the launching ceremony of the cleanup programme, the organisers presented prizes to outstanding contestants at the dance competition entitled ‘Da Nang Green Dance’. Launched from March 22 - April 10, 2023, the competition aims to encourage young people to join efforts with local authorities to protect environment.

Mr. Phan Minh Hai, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, said that the purpose of the ‘Clean up Son Tra - for a Green Son Tra’ programme was to call on people and tourists to get actively involved in protecting the environment and wildlife in the peninsula, and make the inviting place a green destination for everyone.
