The figures were released by the Da Nang Traffic Safety Committee at a recent online national conference to review traffic order and safety in the first quarter of 2023 chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.
The positive result was mainly attributed to the city’s great efforts in inspecting and handling violations of traffic safety and urban order before, during and after Tet Festival 2023, as well as launching the Traffic Safety Year 2023 themed ‘Understanding the Law to Build a Safe Traffic Culture’.
Between January and March, traffic police forces conducted over 26,000 turns of patrol and made 22,481 records of administrative violation to those failed the city’s traffic rules.
As a result, a combined total of VND24.6 billion in fines, which was imposed on 14,785 violation cases, went to the city's branch of the Viet Nam State Treasury. 3,757 vehicles were temporarily seized, whilst 3,291 drivers had their driving licences revoked. During the 3-month period, the number of violation cases rose by 21.5%, and the fines by 101%.
