The Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) has announced that electronic identification account (e-ID account) at level 2 associated with passenger biometric authentication will be piloted in 22 airports nationwide from June 1 - August 1.

The trial programme will be applied to voluntary passengers on domestic flights. Passengers can use their level-2 e-ID accounts via the app VNeID to replace their chip-based citizen ID cards in boarding procedures.

The notice boards of acceptance of level-2 eID accounts will be placed at check-in desks, and aviation security checking areas.

Airport staff will use their e-ID accounts at level 2 installed in smartphone to scan the QR code of passengers’ level-2 e-ID accounts in order to determine the level reliability and identity authentication.

Airport staff are encouraged to voluntarily participate in the programme and are prohibited to use passengers’ personal information for illegal purposes.
