The central region from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang, faces a scorching heat through weekend, with dangerously high temperatures in some parts of the region exceeding over 39oC.

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting posted extreme heat warnings on Wednesday for much of Central Viet Nam.

Specifically, extreme temperatures, with the highest temperature hovering at 35-38oC, and even more than 39oC in some places, are forecast for central localities from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen Province. The hottest times of the day hover from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The situation of intense heat is likely to last until May 7.

Particularly in Da Nang, in May 4 and 5, highs will soar between 35 - 36oC on the average temperatures in the daytime.

The city is predicted to experience sunny and cloudy weather in the daytime with the highest temperatures of 37oC on May 6 and 7.

Due to the influence of hot sun combined with low humidity in the air and southwesterly winds, there will be a risk of fires and explosions in residential areas, plus forest fires.

Besides, people can be vulnerable to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke as they are exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
