Heat wave to make a comeback in Mid-central region, including Da Nang, tomorrow
The Mid-central Region Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said in its recent forecast that intense heat wave conditions are set to make a comeback tomorrow, May 30. Temperatures are expected to start climbing significantly Tuesday.
The Regional Weather Service issued a heat advisory lasting from May 30 through June 4 for the mid-central region, including Da Nang. Given this forecast, Da Nang and elsewhere in the mid-central region are expected to record maximum temperatures in the range of 37-39 degree Celsius, and even above 39 degree Celsius at isolated locations, during the next 6 days. Lowest humidity is likely to record at 40-50 per cent.
The combined effects of hot and low humidity conditions along with high winds blowing from the southwest pose an increased fire or explosion risk in residential areas in the mid-central region. In addition, the extreme heat, coupled with drought conditions across much of Central Viet Nam, help fuel wildfires in the region.
Persistent soaring temperatures can lead to illnesses such as dehydration and even heatstroke. Health experts said residents in the warning region should try to stay cool and drink plenty of water.
The best chance for any thunderstorms will be possible in the region, especially its mountainous areas, in the noon and afternoon hours during scorching days. A severe thunderstorm will bring potentially damaging conditions such as high winds, hail, lightning, and tornadoes, the regional forecasters have warned.
Milder conditions are expected in the region from June 5.
