The Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting says that chances for rain showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop in the mid-central region, including Da Nang, during afternoon and late afternoon hours on Monday, May 15 under the influence of a low pressure trough in the southern edge. Showers can be isolated and scattered across the region while isolated moderate to heavy falls are likely in the southern part of the region.

The regional weather service forecasts showers and the possibility of thunderstorms at some places of the region on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Da Nang Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense is urging authorities at local level and relevant units to take appropriate precautionary measures to cope with floods and flash floods, brought by heavy downpours or extreme weather conditions in the coming days and summer months of this year. Focus must be paid to warning local residents and tourists about drowning risks in coastal areas, rivers, streams, amusement parks and other high risk areas in order to  keep them safe in and around water. The Da Nang Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense wants to make sure everyone is safe around water, which is why it is urging people to follow advice from local level authorities to be careful and vigilant to the dangers.

Authorities at local level are asked to closely work with relevant agencies to raise awareness of this risk among local residents, and tourists, along with owners and staff of business establishments that are offering outdoor adventure tourism and outdoor sport services. Importance should be attached to identifying high-risk areas, particularly deep water areas, in order to install protective barriers or warning signs of drowning. Heed should be paid to deploying personnel to high-risk areas as well as taking all necessary measures to reduce or eliminate drowning risks.

High priority should be given to taking precautionary steps in such high-risk areas as rivers, creeks, streams, mountainous areas, forests, amusement parks and entertainment areas in Hoa Bac, Hoa Phu, and Hoa Ninh communes, Hoa Vang District, the Son Tra Peninsula, the southern part of Hai Van Pass, and beaches.

The Da Nang Irrigation Exploitation One Member Limited Company is tasked to enhance monitoring and surveillance of reservoirs in order to take action to immediately stop spontaneous tourism, picnic, and fishing activities and others near irrigation lakes to prevent drowning incidents.
