Action month for children in 2023 launched
A launch ceremony for the municipal-level action month for children 2023 took place in Da Nang on Wednesday.

The launch of the event aims to respond to the National Action Month for Children 2023 entitled ‘Joining Hands to Reduce Harm to Children’ which takes place across the country between June 1 and 30.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen requested local departments, agencies, mass organisations and localities to proactively deploy the Action Month for Children with practical, effective and appropriate forms of functions and tasks.
Top priority will be given to raising public awareness and action in the performance of child protection, care and education; and imparting legal knowledge on child protection, and skills to prevent and reduce the risk of harm to children, especially for parents, teachers and caregivers.
The focus will be on strengthening the initiative, creativity and coordination among stakeholders in the implementation of measures to prevent, support, intervene and solve children's problems; and strictly handling cases of violations of children's rights.

At the same time, importance will be attached to mobilising resources to help and take care of children; build and upgrade welfare works; and creating opportunities for all-round development for all children, especially those in difficult circumstance and those of ethnic minorities.
At the dialogue forum between the city leaders and children on the same day, there were 26/160 typical children, representing 300,000 city children participating in the forum with 29 opinions, aspirations and wishes on issues related to their daily lives.

In her concluding speech at the forum, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People's Council Nguyen Thi Anh Thi praised children for having a sense of responsibility in observing, thinking and perceiving to make new ideas, findings and proposals.
She suggested the municipal People's Committee direct relevant agencies to effectively implement guidelines, policies and programmes on the care, education and protection of children, especially organising entertainment activities associated with skill training.
She added that special attention should be paid to periodically organising medical examinations and treatment for children, as well as stepping up care activities for disadvantaged children at risk of dropping out of school or violating the law.
