However, Da Nang takes timely action for saving energy in this year's hot season. Although outdoor lighting system has been completed turned off in many places, Da Nang is still very beautiful at night”.

On May 23, the Da Nang government called on individuals and organizations across the city to take measures to save energy in the hot season and the whole year of 2023.

Measures came after Da Nang had seen a significant rise in energy consumption due to high demand amid sweltering heat wave. Due to the influence of unusually hot weather, energy consumption in Da Nang in late April and early May reached more than 9.3 million kWh on average per day.

Government departments and agencies were asked to take effective energy-saving measures. Their employees were required to turn off all electrical appliances in their offices when leaving their workplace, and turn off the power in their offices if no electrical appliances are used.

Organizations and individuals were required to cut the energy use of their outdoor lighting systems by at least 30% . In addition, all of their decorative and advertising lights were asked to completely turn off at 8:00pm daily.

Restaurants, hotels, service and commercial establishments, office complexes and apartment buildings were asked to cut energy use by 50% in their outdoor decorative advertising lights from 8:00pm daily.
