Speaking at the drill, Director of the Department of Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Pham Duc Luan highly praised the success of the activities and events within the framework of the ACDM in Da Nang from June 13 - 15.

He remarked that the drill, funded by the non-refundable ODA source from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), aimed to improve the resilience and adaptive capacity to natural disasters of local people and authorities.

This was also an opportunity to introduce delegates from ASEAN countries and partner countries to the disaster prevention and control of Quang Nam province as well as the great efforts of the Quang Nam Provincial government and the resilient will of local people before natural disasters, Director Luan added.

The drill focused on distributing VND60 million to 60 most disadvantaged households to buy necessities to respond to heavy rainfall and floods after storms;  as well as giving 40 waterproof drums to 40 disadvantaged households in low-lying areas with high risk of flooding to store valuables, identification papers and food.

In addition, building materials were donated to 5 disadvantaged households to enhance resilience and reduce property damage.
