Heat warning remains in effect for Central Viet Nam through next several days

An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for much of Central Viet Nam, especially the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang, according to Viet Nam’s National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

The heat event is expected to persist on Tuesday and Wednesday, and may continue into next several days.

As per the national weather service, temperatures are expected to surpass 37 degrees Celsius at isolated locations on Tuesday , with 35 to 37 degrees Celsius expected across these areas.

Temperatures are forecast to stay high in the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang, on Wednesday. The maximum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 35-38 degree Celsius across these areas, and even above 38 degrees Celsius in some places.

The biggest concerns for prolonged time in the sun are heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

The national forecasters recommend residents in affected areas drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and take extra precautions if they work or spend time outside.

On Tuesday, extreme heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over the parts from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue while showers and thunderstorms are predicted at isolated places during the late afternoon and night hours. The Southwest Wind at levels 2 to 3 could reach these areas. Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to hover around 35-37 degrees Celsius, even upper 37 degrees Celsius in some places while minimum temperature will be in the range of 26-29 degrees Celsius.

The searing heat continues to bake the parts from Da Nang to Binh Thuan today with showers and thunderstorms possible during late afternoon and night hours. These areas could experience the Southwest Wind at levels 2 to 3.Temperatures in these areas can expect lows of 25 to 28 degrees Celsius and highs of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, even above 37 degrees Celsius at isolated places.

Thunderstorms can produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds in the warning areas, national forecasters has warned.
