The High Command of Navy Region 3 held a ceremony on Wednesday in Da Nang to give the decision to sponsor 12 pupils who are children of fishermen in Da Nang, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai.

Rear Admiral Mai Trong Dinh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Navy Region 3, said that the ‘The Navy sponsors fishermen's children’ campaign was part of the ‘Vietnamese navy is a fulcrum for fishermen to reach out to sea’ programme.

The campaign contributed to sharing with fishing families with extremely difficult circumstances, and further improving the effectiveness of mass mobilisation and protecting the national sovereignty over sea and islands, he added.

Over the past 4 years, the Navy Region 3 High Command has organised 135 training courses on raise awareness of and responsibility for protecting the country's sovereignty over sacred seas and islands for 28,500 turns of people, as well as other courses on raising awareness of law observance in fishing for more than 1,350 fishing boats with 5,800 turns of fishermen.

Additionally, the unit has presented over 900 national flags, 250 life jackets, 195 lifebuoy rings, and food, fuel, and daily necessities for 920 fishing ships with 7,360 fishermen at a total cost of over VND560 million.

On the occasion, the organisers gave gifts to 2 poor children and 12 fishermen in Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District.
