In her remarks at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Ngo Thi Kim Yen proudly said Da Nang was one of Vietnamese localities with a high percentage of blood donors compared to the population in the country for many years in a row.

She added the voluntary blood donation campaigns in the city have been enthusiastically responded by locals over the past years.

Many blood donation clubs have developed and operated effectively in the city, including "blood donation family", "live blood bank" and "rare blood group".

Thanks to this, the city receives tens of thousands of blood units each year. In 2022, 32,267 units of blood were donated by donors, reaching 107% of the year plan.

Vice Chairwoman Yen took the opportunity to appeal for cadres, Party members, soldiers, civil servants, public employees, labourers and locals to participate in voluntary blood donation campaigns in a bid to ensure the reserve blood supply for emergency and patient treatment.

Also at the ceremony, a total of 273 collectives, individuals and family representatives were honoured and rewarded in recognition of their active involvement in voluntary blood donation activities in the city.

Specifically, 13 honourees received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, 159 Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, and 101 Certificates of Merit from the city’s Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.
