Northern Viet Nam and the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang, saw no respite from the blistering heatwave on Sunday, July 2 as the maximum temperature of these areas settled at 35-38 degrees Celsius at 1:00pm, even upper 38 degrees Celsius at isolated locations, such as Thanh Hoa Province’s Tinh Gia, and Nghe An Province’s Do Luong, according to Viet Nam’s National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

The national weather service said there will be little respite from the prevailing heatwave conditions in the Northern region on Monday and Tuesday with maximum temperature expected to hover around 35-37 degrees Celsius, and even above 37 degrees Celsius in some places. Meanwhile, blistering heat is in forecast to tighten its grip grips over the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang. During the said period, temperatures are expected to surpass 39 degrees Celsius at isolated locations, with 36 to 39 degrees Celsius expected across these areas. Relative humidity is likely to record at 45-60%. Hot and humid conditions are likely to persist across the Northern region and the parts from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, including Da Nang, for the next several days.

Da Nang is sweating and swearing under the sweltering sun. The city recorded the maximum temperature at 37 degrees at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 2. The weather for Monday into Wednesday, July 5, in Da Nang remains hot with temperatures in highs of 37degree Celsius. There will be little respite from the sweltering heat in Da Nang from Thursday into next Tuesday, July 11 as the maximum temperatures will be in the range of 35 to 36 degree Celsius.

Amid such sweltering conditions in Da Nang, it's critical to take the necessary safeguards. The elderly and those with pre-existing morbidities must take extra care against dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion and strokes during this time.
