Sharing experience in building a modern coastal city
Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam who is Chairman of PEMSEA Network of Local Governments for Sustainable Coastal Development (PNLG) in the 2022 - 2025 term, on Wednesday, chaired the 14th session of the Executive Committee of the PEMSEA Network of PNLG via video conference.
During the conference, leaders of PNLG Network Secretariat, PEMSEA Resource Fund Executive Board, and Xiamen City in China, plus members of PNLG Network discussed performance results in 2022 and the second half of 2023, as well as identify activities in the coming time, especially the preparation for PNLG Annual Forum and World Oceans Week 2023 in Xiamen city in November.
They also shared initiatives and solutions to promote the implementation of the strategic action plan of the PNLG Network, as well as discuss the content of introducing members to the PNLG Network (including Da Nang) and the content of short films (videos) about the PNLG Network.
Mr. Lin Huaiyuan, Executive Deputy Secretary General of PNLG Information Network Secretariat, said that Xiamen city government and PEMSEA will co-host the PNLG Annual Forum and World Oceans Week 2023 themed ‘Modern coastal city in green partnership’ in November 2023.
During the week, an array of exciting activities will take place such as an international ocean forum, a PNLG Network plenary session, technical seminars to promote cooperation among members of the PNLG Network, a workshop to exchange experience in building a modern coastal city and managing integrated coastal zone, and events to introduce platforms and policies to support sea and ocean cooperation.
Mr. Le Quang Nam highly appreciated the content of reports and proposals presented at the conference by the leaders of the PNLG Network Secretariat and the Executive Board of the PEMSEA Resource Fund as well as the opinions of the Executive Committee members.
These ideas contributed to building a growing PNLG Network as well as enhancing the capacity, contribution and sharing of its members, he added.
The PNLG Network Executive Board Meeting also made important decisions to build a strong PNLG Network and contribute to the successful organisation of the 2023 PNLG Network Forum in Xiamen City in November.
