As of August 12, the salinity level recorded at the Cau Do Water Supply Plant's raw water intake on the Cam Le River had dropped below 1,000mg/l for many hours.

Despite low water level due to the prolonged heat, the water level upstream of the Nam My Dam is still adequate for the Hoa Lien Water Supply Plant.

All pumping stations along Yen and Vu Gia rivers, plus those at Bau Nit, Ha Thanh and An Trach weirs have resumed normal operation because the owners of hydroelectric reservoirs have discharged water for 2 days under the direction of the Quang Nam Provincial authorities.

Deputy General Director of the Da Nang Irrigation Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company Le Van Sam said that the water pumping stations have resumed normal operation and fully irrigated the fields, including some areas at the end of the irrigation water source.

However, according to Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited Dao Van Thien, the water level of the La Tho River, the branch of Yen River, is still low, making it difficult for pumping stations to operate, especially for ones managed and operated by localities.

In the long term, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province, will propose to the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province to allow the implementation of a project on dredging and reinforcing the La Tho River in combination with traffic roads and landscape creation.

For the Thu Bon River, the construction of an anti-saline intrusion dam at the downstream of Cau Lau Bridge with designs similar to Cai Lon or Cai Be sluices in Kien Giang Province is necessary to both ensure flood drainage, prevent salinity and retain fresh water for pumping stations to operate.

At the same time, with this project, every year, Dien Ban Town will not need to build an anti-saline intrusion dam, and keep fresh water on Vinh Dien River downstream of Tu Cau pumping station.

Moreover, when salt water does not intrude onto Cam Dong Arch, fresh water will flow along Vinh Dien River to Han River estuary, helping to push or reduce salinity for Cam Le River at the raw water inlet to Cau Do Water Supply Plant.

General Director of the Da Nang Water Supply Joint Stock Company Ho Minh Nam said that when a water reservoir is built on the Bac River, upstream of Cu De River, his company will also construct a pipeline to take fresh water for the Cau Do Water Supply Plant, contributing to ensuring water security for the city.
