Practical actions ensure social welfare for Da Nang residents

During the half term of implementing the Resolution adopted at the 22nd Congress of the Da Nang municipal Party, the city has carried out many policies involved in healthcare, education and social security to create the best conditions for local residents to have stable life, as well as meet their medical examination and treatment needs.

New general educational curriculum

The municipal Department of Education and Training has prepared material facilities and human resources for the new general educational curriculum 2018.

Specifically, the unit has sent managers and key high school teachers to fully participate in training programmes organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as organised regular and continuous self-education for high school teachers and administrators.

Under the project on building, upgrading and expanding schools for the 2021-2025 period, as of July 2023, the municipal Department of Planning and Investment has submitted119 projects with a total investment of VND3,302 billion to the municipal People's Committee for approval.

According to Director of the Department of Education and Training Le Thi Bich Thuan, the whole city has 198 preschools, 99 primary schools, 60 junior high schools, and 34 senior high schools with a total of 36,751 pupils. 100% of teachers and administrators of general education have attained standard qualifications.

Annually, the total expenditure on education and training, and vocational training, accounts for over 7-8% of the city's total. Spending on education makes up about 30% of the city's recurrent expenditure. The city has also developed and implemented a roadmap to waive tuition fees for public schools.

Many social security policies implemented

Over the past 3 years, the city's social welfare and security policies have also been maintained and implemented, including the '5 No's, 3 Yes's' and 'City of 4 Safe' programmes.

Prominent among them is the increase of regular and unexpected support levels for poor revolution contributors suffering from fatal diseases, those who lose their working capacity, discharged soldiers suffer from mental illness, and others.

In addition, the city has been carrying out six social housing projects for low-income earners, with 4,381 apartments, expected to be completed in 2024.

There are 4 housing projects, providing a total of about 4,000 apartments, funded by non-state budget in order to meet the housing needs of locals.

The city has taken many solutions to support the development of the labour market, and create jobs for workers. More than 17,000 new jobs are created every year. The job creation rate increases by an average of 2.97%/year.

Medical network development

In order to promptly and effectively meet the requirements of protecting, caring for and improving people's health in the new situation, the Party Committee of the municipal Department of Health has focused on innovating and perfecting the medical organisation system towards leanness, effectiveness, efficiency and integration; and enhancing professional qualifications and management capacity for healthcare workers in a bid to meet the development requirements of the city's healthcare sector.

Importance has been attached to accelerating administrative reform, and boosting the application of information technology, to increase patient and people's satisfaction.

Heed has been on renovating and transforming the model of medical service provision, prioritising the deployment of specialised medical centers and multi-center hospital model, and developing medical examination and treatment tourism in order to gradually build Da Nang into a regional-level medical center.
