Ms. Huynh Vo Ha Le, the Secretary of the Youth Union Organisation of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward said that the organization came up with the car wash fundraising idea to raise money to help pupils in difficult circumstances. The money raised has been used for donating 4 bicycles totaling VND 6 million to orphaned and disadvantaged students.

Huynh Dang Minh Phuong, a sixth grader, is among free bike recipients. Her family is living under very difficult circumstances as her mother passed away while her younger brother suffers from Down syndrome so that her family cannot afford to buy a bicycle for her to go to school.

"September marks the beginning of the new school year for students across Viet Nam so I am very happy to receive a free bicycle. I promise to study hard so as not to disappoint good-hearted young people", Phuong happily said.

Apart from volunteering at the charity car wash event, Ngo Thi Van Anh, a youth union member, has actively got involved in various community activities during this year's summer vacation. Highlights included environmental cleanups through the Green Sunday Campaign, and embellishment of local martyrs' cemetery.

“Vehicle owners could decide how much they want to donate to have their car washed by volunteers. Youth union members in volunteer blue shirt with a strong sense of responsibility, thoughtfulness and enthusiasm have been active in helping their organization to raise funds during the car wash fundraiser. The charity one-month long event has drawn great deal of attention from the general public, and received active support from local vehicle owners. I am very happy to be able to participate in such a meaningful activity,” Anh remarked.

Ms. Huynh Vo Ha Le highlighted the significance of the car wash fundraiser in fostering a spirit of impulse and volunteerism in young people, developing empathy in them, and upholding their philanthropic social responsibility in order to actively give back and help others in their communities in addition to raising money to support children in difficult circumstances. Free bike recipients were very touched and grateful for the whole-hearted support from these young people.

Furthermore, the Hoa Hiep Bac ward's Youth Union organization has also organized such exciting events for its members as the "Fiery Summer" Festival which featured folk dance and collective dance competitions , the "Ring the Golden Bell" contest, campfire ceremony, and more during this summer. Besides, the organization’s members have also worked with the ward police and the Community Digital Technology Team to go door-to-door to help local residents to install the VNeID application. Along with that, youth union members have also been active in raising public awareness about VneID application and its benefits in conducting online their administrative procedures and digital transactions, including paying their utility bills for essential services like electricity and water, paying their social insurance premiums. It is known that most of the summer activities of the ward’s Youth Union members have been posted on social networks in a bid to spread spirit of volunteerism in our community in order to encourage others to step up as volunteers to give back to the society, thereby educating young people to live a beautiful and meaningful life.
