Severely-injured foreign crew member rescued
The Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre Region 2 (Da Nang MRCC) has successfully rescued a severely injured crew member onboard a foreign cargo ship.

At about 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, the DHT Sundarbans ship travelling from Huizhou port in China to Singapore had an accident when crew member Rallos Rory Jerome, 51, a Filipino citizen, fell and hit his head into metal causing unconsciousness, suspected traumatic brain injury.
Realizing the serious accident, the captain urgently notified the Viet Nam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Viet Nam MRCC) through Asiatrans Vietnam agent, requesting emergency assistance for the severely-injured crew member.
In a prompt fashion, at around 10:00 a.m. on Friday, the Viet Nam MRCC dispatched ship SAR 412 that belongs to Da Nang MRCC to the scene for rescue. SAR 412 carried rescuers and medical workers from the Da Nang Emergency Center 115 to carry out the task. .
At 11:00 a.m., the maritime rescue force approached the DHT Sundarbans ship, and a team of doctors, nurses and rescue workers quickly performed on-site emergency treatment for the patient. The victim was then transferred to ship SAR 412 for specialised medical care and then urgently brought to the mainland for treatment.
At around 12:45 p.m. on the same day, the victim returned safely to Da Nang and he was taken to hospital for further treatment.
