At about 4:00 pm on October 13, fishing vessel TH90929 TS, with 14 crew members, captained by Mr. Le Xuan Dung hailing from Hoang Truong Commune, Hoang Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province, was en route to Da Nang’s mainland to avoid bad weather conditions.
However, the ship faced the risk of sinking when it was crossing the waters of the northern part of Mui Nghe in the Son Tra Peninsula.
At that time, the crew members got into panic and made an emergency call to the Viet Nam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Vietnam MRCC) to ask for help.
Upon receiving reports about the situation, the centre, without delay, contacted competent authorities in the city, asking for help to save the seafarers.
The Da Nang MRCC immediately sent out rescue ship SAR 412 to help the victims, and it arrived at the scene at 6:00pm on the same day.
The crew members were brought aboard SAR412 in a state of exhaustion and panic and received intensive medical care from rescue staff.
The distressed fishermen and ship TH90929 TS were safely brought back to Da Nang and handed over to the authorities according to regulations at about 9:00 pm on the same day.
