Da Nang faces moderate risk of flash floods in 32 wards and communes as heavy rain lashes
With more rainfall in store, Da Nang is facing the moderate risk of flash floods across 32 wards and communes as the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting issued the warning for this on Monday noon.
From Sunday evening to Monday midday, heavy to very heavy rain pounded Da Nang. As much as 199.8mm of rain dumped in Luong Stream, 170.2mm in Da Stream, 111mm in Hoa Bac, 106.8mm in Hoa Son, 93.4mm in Hoa Cuong Nam, triggering a flood-like situation on sections of some streets across the city. As per the regional weather service, the city’s soil has reached near saturation or saturation as its soil moisture contents ranged between 70 % and 85 %.
Regional forecasters also issued warnings of flash floods, land subsidence and landslides in the city.

From Monday noon into 5:00 p.m. on the same day, moderate rain with localised heavy downpours is likely over Da Nang with the total rainfall amount expected to reach 20mm to 40mm in common across the city, and even over 60mm possible in some places.
Regional weather forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for small rivers and streams, plus mountainous areas in Hoa Ninh, Hoa Bac, Hoa Lien, Hoa Phu, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Phong, Hoa Son, Hoa Nhon, Hoa Tien, Hoa Phuoc, Hoa Chau communes, all in Hoa Vang Suburban District, and Tho Quang Ward in Son Tra District. In addition, localized flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and urban areas, especially 33 wards and communes.
