Moderate to heavy rain with isolated extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorm chance will continue in Da Nang on Tuesday, according to the Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting. Rain amounts are forecast to generally average between 50 mm and 120 mm with more than 150 mm possible in some places.

The rain activity, however, will gradually decline from Tuesday night, regional forecasters have said.

According to the regional weather service, widespread rainfall was recorded in Da Nang on Monday.  The city experienced heavy to extremely heavy rainfall events yesterday with 10mm-30mm rain lashing the city in 30 minutes, which led to partial flooding in some streets located in Son Tra District.

Regional weather forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for mountainous areas, and localized flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and urban areas.

The best chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms is likely on Tuesday in the open waters off the Da Nang coast, and the waters of the Hoang Sa Archipelago.

A severe thunderstorm will bring potentially damaging conditions such as high winds, hail, lightning, and tornadoes, the regional forecasters have warned.

Warning for thunderstorms and strong winds has been issued for all vessels operating in the above-mentioned areas.

Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions.
