Over 5,000 evacuated from Da Nang's flood-hit areas

Under the impacts of a cold spell and a tropical convergence zone, Da Nang was battered heavy rain throughout Friday and Saturday, inundating many parts, mainly low-lying areas.

Municipal authorities, police officers and soldiers in the city enhanced their efforts to evacuate flood-affected residents to safe shelters from Friday night until Saturday morning.

On Friday evening, the area along ​​Me Suot Street in Hoa Khanh Nam Ward of Lien Chieu District, which is the lowest part of Da Nang, was filled with flood water, and some places were submerged by more than 1m. Till date, 1,700 households with more than 5,110 people have been taken to safe places.

Besides, police officers bought necessities, bread, food, and bottles of drinking water to supply them to several flood-hit households in Hoa Minh Ward in Lien Chieu District on the same day.

According to the city’s Border Guard High Command, thousands of officers and soldiers have been sent to flood-hit areas to help more than 5,693 people from 1,941 households in districts of Lien Chieu, Thanh Khe and Hoa Vang.
