The Da Nang Department of Public Security, on Friday, launched an action campaign to ensure security, social order and traffic safety in the city during the upcoming Christmas, New Year, and Lunar New Year holidays.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh acknowledged and praised local police for their initiatives, responsibility, efforts and achievements over the past time.

According to Chairman Chinh, the city has recently recorded some outstanding socio-economic development achievements. Many investment projects in various fields have been carried out, whilst the local tourism sector has maintained a stable number of visitors. However, the city’s development speed is still slow, and its budget revenue is limited, not commensurating with its position and inherent potential.

In the coming time, the city needs a truly stable, safe, and healthy social environment in order to promote its growth, unleash resources, boost investment and business activities, and increase sustainable revenue from tourism and service activities, he noted.

To successfully achieve the abovementioned targets and uphold achieved results, Chairman Chinh asked police force at all levels to continue to take serious measures to suppress crimes, implement crime combat and prevention work, reduce traffic accidents, and prevent fires and explosions.

The police force should take action to stop illegal street racing, prevent terrorism and sabotage, and promptly handle public order disturbances and collective violence, he said.

At the same time, he stressed the necessity for the police force to proactively grasp the situation, detect and identify bad, toxic, false, and distorted information in cyberspace and on social network sites, thereby stopping and beating every sabotage plot and activity of hostile and reactionary forces.

The city aims to complete 18 key tasks and 10 work targets in various fields. In particular, the number of crimes against social order will be reduced by 5% compared to the same period in 2023. 100% of criminal subjects, drug addicts, teenagers with signs of possessing weapons, and illegal racers will be managed, monitored and handled.

Major General Vu Xuan Vien, Director of the Department of Public Security, said that the unit will mobilise a maximum of forces and means to simultaneously and strictly handle crimes and cases of law violation.

Local police force will strengthen patrols to strictly inspect and handle violations in the fields of economy, environment, traffic order and fire prevention and fighting, thereby reducing traffic accidents, and preventing congestion, illegal racing, large fires and explosions causing damage to people and property.
