Recently, the development of society has created new professions, thereby opening up even more opportunities for young people to choose their career paths. These new professions are not only flexible in terms of time, but also allow them to promote creativity. However, to be successful in any professions requires each individual to cultivate knowledge and skills in him/her to meet the requirements of his/her working environment.

Inspiring young people to follow

“Why don't we control our own destiny through the choices we make?" That's a question Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, a resident of Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, asked herself upon returning to her hometown in Da Nang from Ho Chi Minh City after completing her studies in the most dynamic city in Viet Nam.

Hence, Bich Ngoc thought about starting a business in order to inspire others to follow. Despite many challenges, driven by youthfulness and passion, in early 2023, Ngoc founded and managed The Gem Media and Entertainment Company using its abbreviation as The Gem amid the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Initially, Ngoc’s difficulty was limited capital due to her recent graduation. Therefore, it motivated her to manage the money flows to generate profits. She found that the Da Nang market had many advertising companies, but not many focused on the creativity aspect. Talent training is still new, so this field is quite abundant in resources, there is no environment with enough capacity for young people to develop.

Since talent training is still in its early stages, this sector has abundant resources, yet lacks an environment with sufficient capacity for young people to thrive. Hence, The Gem emphasizes training and cultivating the brand image for young individuals to become public figures.

Through such activities as content creation and graphic design on social media platforms, young talents are equipped with professional skills in an environment led by the Gen Z bosses, who help young people turn their ideas into reality.

Ngoc’s company has attracted 10-15 young employees aged between 18 and 25 years, and many of whom are ambitious and creative undergrads. However, those with high creative abilities are often sensitive and emotionally influenced, presenting a challenge that Ngoc addresses with her own measures to manage and harness the potential of her employees.

"Creativity has no limits" Ngoc explained. "Our products come from the heart so our company focuses on boosting our employees self-discipline in order to enable them to do high-quality work. Our company believes in the energy of youth and encourage our employees to take full responsibility for their own lives at the age of 30. We foster a positive environment, understanding and supporting them even when they make mistakes. I have learned from past mistakes, realizing the importance of inspiring young individuals to live, and not merely exist.", Ngoc remarked.

The Gem treats every its product and project with the utmost effort and understanding, combining years of learning and expertise in marketing, logic, psychology, and negotiation. This allows the company to bring bold ideas to life and deliver top-quality products to its customers.

In addition to managing The Gem, Ngoc has many future plans, including studying psychology to help others overcome challenges, and open a bakery to pursue her passion for baking.

Choosing a major based on passion

With a degree in journalism, Le Hoang Dieu Linh, a resident of An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District has chosen to get involved in creating content.

Currently, Linh works for the GFPI Company that involves in real estate projects, e-sports, and eco-friendly products like lotus leaf dishes, along with vegan spices and seasonings.

Working as a marketer at the GFPI Company, Linh creates promotional content on social media, organizes events, and writes short film scripts for advertising purpose. Even though it's an exciting job, it comes with its own set of challenges.

"Coming from a journalism background, I love working with words and expanding my vocabulary. My marketing job requires creativity so I'm always learning new ways to engage my customers. Each article needs a different approach depending on the purpose and target audience."

One of the biggest challenges Linh faces is the pressure of elimination as age increases. Therefore, individuals need to continuously enhance their knowledge and keep up with the trends of the younger generation. According to Linh, despite accumulating much experience, individuals age between 35 and 40 find it challenging to be as sharp as their younger colleagues in discerning trends.

Thu Phong who is a graduate with a bachelor's degree in journalism, chose to pursue her passion for hand embroidery. Before reaching her current path, Phong took a detour to work as a stylist in Ho Chi Minh City after graduation. Her freelance job helped her gain valuable experience in the fashion industry and develop her aesthetic taste.

Currently, Phong is active in sharing experiences on sewing techniques of Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) with others in efforts to bring joy to herself and local communities. Through her job, Phong hopes to promote the art of hand embroidery, and make it more accessible to everyone. She finds immense satisfaction in seeing people wearing clothes she has embroidered, especially during their special occasions like weddings.
