18,417 Tet gifts given to the needy

Over 18,417 Tet gifts were presented to needy people across Da Nang at the ‘Spring of Love’ programme held in the city on Wednesday.

The recipients were poor and near-poor households; families in extremely difficult circumstances; and households with victims of Agent Orange, disabled people, former teachers, former youth volunteers, patriotic prisoners, children, and lonely elderly people in difficult circumstances.

The total support cost of the programme was more than VND9.2 billion which was raised from the ‘Spring of Love’ programme and the city's ‘For the Poor’ Fund.

In his remarks at the programme, Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang Ngo Xuan Thang highlighted that the ‘Spring of Love’ programme aimed to support the poor and disadvantaged people in the city in order to help them celebrate a warm and joyful Tet.

Also at the programme, 8 units which donated VND100 million or more to the city's ‘For the Poor’ Fund in 2023 were honoured with ‘Heart of Gold’ certificates.

Other 4 units received Certificates of Merit from the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang for their active contributions to the city's ‘For the Poor’ Fund during the 2021-2023 period.

In 2023, a combined total of VND40.373 billion was raised by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang at all levels for the city’s ‘For the Poor’ Fund, reaching 161.5% of the set plan, partly contributing to ensuring the city's social welfare.
