The ‘Young people live a fulfilling and meaningful life’ movement, launched by the Da Nang Youth Union, has produced positive outcomes, thereby making positive changes in young people's attitudes and actions. Shining examples of good deeds, embodying the spirit of solidarity, showing empathy and understanding with those in need have appeared in this movement.

In 2023, Ms. Nguyen Le Hoai Duyen, the Secretary of the Youth Union organization of the Y Viet Vocational School, was  named among shinning examples of living a meaningful life by the Da Nang Youth Union.

Hoai Duyen was an enthusiastic participant in various union and association activities during her academic years. Her experiences gained form these activities have helped her continue her efforts to utilize her skills, experiences, and intelligence in promoting the development of movements at the Y Viet Vocational School.

Duyen is currently in charge of running the school's Charity Kitchen program to offer free meals to local needy people. The program is funded by cash donations totaling over VND 100 million by the school's teaching staff, and local philanthropists. Once or twice a month, this charity program takes place at 478/A1 Dien Bien Phu Street to offer 150 to 200 free meals to low-income earners.

In addition, the school's students get directly involved in cooking and distributing free meals to the poor. Besides, in her role as the president of the school's Social Work Club, Hoai Duyen launched a wide range of volunteer activities to support children and seniors who are under treatment at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital, as well as are being cared for at the municipal Social Protection Center.

Duyen is a regular participant in volunteer programs, distributing gifts and helping ethnic minorities. In 2022, she joined efforts with the Thanh Khe District’s Youth Union organization to donate notebooks, learning tools, warm clothing, and fans to 170 students of the Zuoih Primary School located in Nam Giang District, Quang Nam province.

"Volunteering not only brings benefits to those we help, but it also brings immense joy to me," Duyen shared.

"It's an opportunity to experience new and interesting things, to develop skills, and to better myself. I will strive even more in the future to spread these positive actions, bringing joy and happiness to the community."

Similarly, Secretary Nguyen Dung of the Hoa Tho Tay Ward’s Youth Union in Cam Le District was among the honorees for  living a meaningful life in 2023.

In his position as the Secretary of the Hoa Tho Tay Ward’s Youth Union, in 2023, he raised over VND 60 million and mobilized youth members to support house repairs for family of Mrs. Bui Thien Thanh Long. Besides, he was active in providing support to build a children’s playground in the Residential Area No. 2 and the ward’s volleyball court.

During the heavy rainfall event occurred in Da Nang in October 2023, Mr. Dung, along with youth union  members and young people helped affected residents with cleanup, environmental sanitation, as well as provided free essential items for the disadvantaged.

Over recent years, he has facilitated job placements for more than 20 local young people, helping them find a stable job. Annually, the Hoa Tho Tay Ward’s Youth Union organization pays visits, and gives gifts to social policy families, as well as poor studious students.

Since 2018, the municipal Youth Union Organization has launched an award to honor shinning examples of good deeds, embodying the spirit of solidarity, showing empathy and understanding with those in need. In 2023, 35 outstanding young people were honored with this award.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Duan, the Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Youth Union, numerous programs and initiatives are deployed at grassroots youth union organizations to invoke the spirit of dedication among their members. These shining examples inspire others to follow, thereby contributing  to making Da Nang more beautiful, prosperous and civilized.
