Da Nang leaders present Tet gifts to Co Tu and Chinese Vietnamese people

Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee cum Chairman of the municipal People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, on Thursday, visited and extended Tet wishes to the Co Tu people in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages in Hoa Bac Commune, and Phu Tuc Village in Hoa Phu Commune, and Chinese-Vietnamese families in Trung Nghia Village, Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District on the occasion of the traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year 2024.

He was accompanied by Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Ngo Xuan Thang, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh, and leaders of government departments and agencies.

On behalf of the city's leaders, Deputy Secretary Triet wished the Co Tu ethnic minority people a joyful and warm Tet. He hoped them to join efforts with the local authorities to continue building a rich and beautiful homeland.

He added that the city recorded a number of remarkable socio-economic development achievements over the past year. However, it still faced many difficulties due to the volatile global, regional, and domestic situations, especially the effects of COVID-19.

The city always prioritised ensuring social welfare for people from all walks of life, especially issuing many policies to take care of material and spiritual life for ethnic minority groups, Mr. Triet noted.

The city leader took the opportunity to ask authorities at all levels to pay more attention to carrying out education and healthcare policies, creating jobs, reducing poverty, supporting people to do a business, and developing community-based tourism in parallel with preserving the cultural identity of the Co Tu people.

When visiting the Vietnamese people of Chinese origin living in Trung Nghia Village, Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District, Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh wished them a peaceful, jubilant and happy Tet.

He voiced his hope that they will continue to promote community solidarity and effectively develop the family economy, greatly contributing to building new-style rural areas, and prosperous and beautiful city.

On the occasion, the city leaders gave 421 Tet gifts, worth VND1.2 million each, to Co Tu people and Chinese-Vietnamese families.
