Speaking at a meeting on Tuesday to review the performance of the Da Nang Department of Public Security in 2023 and identify new tasks for 2024, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang highly appreciated positive results and achievements gained by police forces at all levels in 2023.

The city Party Chief Quang requested the department to continue to focus on Party building and rectification, and implement seriously and effectively a number of plans, resolutions and directives.

Included are Directive No. 34-CT/TU dated October 27, 2023, issued by the Standing Committee of the Da Nang Party Committee, on "Continuing to promote administrative reforms, strengthen discipline, regulations, address the issues of evasion, shirking responsibilities, failure to perform duties, and fulfilling the responsibilities, tasks, and authorities of a segment of officials, party members, civil servants, and employees in the current situation", and Resolution No. 12-NQ/TW dated March 16, 2022 of the Politburo on "promoting the building of a truly clean, strong, regular, elite, modern People's Public Security force that meets the requirements and tasks in the new situation".

At the same time, Secretary Quang requested that the Party Committee of the Department of Public Security continue to concretise the resolutions and directives of the Central Public Security's Party Committee and the Minister of Public Security on public security work in 2024; and Directive of the Standing Board of the municipal Party Committee on leadership in implementing the task of ensuring political security, social order and safety in 2024.

Greater efforts should be made to improve the quality and effectiveness of the movement "All People Protect National Security" with many models of crime prevention and social evils; as well as to promote the strength of the community in fire and explosion prevention and control, he added.

According to a report released by the municipal Department of Public Security, in 2023, political security in the city was stable, crime was controlled, social order and safety were guaranteed, and social discipline was strengthened, hereby effectively serving the task of the city's social-economic development.

In addition, the unit implemented '5 No's, 3 Yes's' and 'City of 4 Safe' programmes, plus plans to fight against crime, law violations and social evils, contributing to enhancing security and order right from the grassroots level.

Along with that, the Department of Public Security deployed many peak attacks to suppress criminal, economic, drug crimes, and illegal acts related to shisha, laughing balls.

Thanks to its great efforts in 2023, the municipal Department of Public Security received the emulation flag from the Ministry of Public Security in recognition of the unit leading the emulation movement in 2023.
