The Da Nang Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Investment Project Management Board has just handed over and put into use Phase 1 of the Cam Le District Medical Center project. This project was approved by the municipal People’s Committee as a construction investment project according to Decision No. 5009/QD-UBND dated October 31, 2019 with a total investment of more than VND238.8 billion.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Nhat, the Da Nang Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Investment Project Management Board, Phase 1 of the Cam Le District Medical Centre features a new construction item of a 7-storey building block, 1 basement, 1 technical floor, fences, gates and security house. Technical infrastructure includes grounds, traffic items, trees, walking gardens, 290m3 underground water tank, 200m3/day and night wastewater collection and treatment system.

“In addition, the project also includes dismantling items located within the boundaries, renovating existing works to ensure operations for the unit such as renovating the first floor of the existing block of Traditional Medicine Ward into a testing and imaging diagnostic area. Other departments and rooms will be integrated into the existing items and retain them with appropriate functions, limiting renovation and repair," Mr. Nhat said.

According to doctor Tran Thien Hung, the Director of the Cam Le District Medical Center, the previous condition of the unit was seriously degraded due to the ravage of time. The rooms were moldy, leaky, and cramped, limiting the effectiveness of patient care and treatment. The municipal People's Committee's investment in the project is timely, meeting the medical examination and treatment needs of the people and the aspirations of medical staff working here.

“In addition to investing in facilities, within the project, we also received many medical equipment to serve the administrative and professional work of the hospital. This is extremely necessary, helping the hospital consolidate further and improve treatment quality.”, Hung added.

Two projects that are waiting for and completing processes and procedures to put into use are the Centre of Neurosurgery, Trauma and Plastic Burns and the Centre of Organ Transplant and Stem Cell Transplant at the Da Nang General Hospital.

The Centre of Neurosurgery of Trauma and Plastic Burns was approved for investment by the municipal People's Committee on May 2, 2019 with a total investment of more than  VND 471 billion. This is a Level 1 project built on a floor area of more than 23,402 square meters, including a main building with 11 floors and 2 basements, wastewater treatment system with capacity of 1,700m3/day and night, along with construction equipment and medical equipment.

Meanwhile, the Centre for Organ Transplantation and Stem Cell Transplantation at the Da Nang General Hospital was approved by the municipal People's Committee in Decision No. 2107/QD-UBND dated May 13, 2019 with a total investment of more than VND 495 billion.

In addition to renovating and converting functional departments at the Da Nang General Hospital, the main building block construction includes 11 floors, 2 basements and 1 technical floor with a total floor area of more than 19,000m2 and the synchronous investment of construction and medical equipment. Up to now, the two above-mentioned key projects have been completed and are waiting for acceptance and operation.

Recently, the municipal People's Committee has approved investment and the upgrading of many medical facilities, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and meeting the needs of the people. At Phase 1 of the Thanh Khe District Medical Centre project, the construction units have currently renovated functional departments for them to be put into use on schedule.

It is known that this project was approved by the municipal People's Committee in Decision No. 527/QD-UBND dated February 9, 2021 with a total investment of more than VND 398.2 billion. Work commenced on this project in November 2022 and it is expected to be completed and put into use in May 2024.

As for the investment project to build, renovate and add equipment to the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics  Hospital with an investment scale of more than VND 790 billion, the construction unit has currently completed the rough construction and is implementing ceiling construction, exterior wall priming, glass wall processing, flooring construction and other work items. The whole project is expected to be completed in October 2024.

Similarly, the investment project to build and upgrade the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics  Hospital has a total investment of more than VND 788 billion. Up to now, the construction has been kept on schedule. The project is slated to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2024.

As revealed by Doctor Tran Thanh Thuy, the Deputy Director in charge of the Da Nang Department of Health, a series of capital construction investment projects whose investor and manager is the Da Nang Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Investment Project Management Board has been implemented according to the proposed schedules and plans.

In a similar vein, projects managed by the municipal Department of Health involved in the renovating and repairing of the degraded housing areas and the construction of wastewater treatment system, along with the renovating of commune and ward health stations, have also been implemented on schedule.

“In addition to investing in facilities, medical equipment is also purchased whilst human resources are also trained to meet public needs. This is a necessary and timely policy that helps improve and enhance the quality of hospitals, thereby enhancing the quality of medical examination and treatment to serve the people”, said Doctor Thuy.
