Consistently twice a week, the Da Nang Green Group visits various locations around the city like beaches, parks, and riverbanks to pick up trash from these places in a bid to keep the city green, clean, and beautiful.

After the New Year's Eve 2024 Countdown event at the East Sea Park in Son Tra district, over 30 young members of the Da Nang Green Group were actively engaged in collecting trash from this site.

Tran Le Thuy Hang, a member of the group, stated: 'The Countdown event attracted thousands of residents and tourists, leaving behind a significant amount of litter. Cleaning up this hosting venue lasted until after 2 a.m., but we were delighted to contribute to environmental protection.”

Founded in March 2023, the group initially had only six members, but after sharing videos of their activities on social media platforms, it captured great attention from young people. Currently, the group has grown to nearly 200 members, and the majority of them are undergraduates and graduates. All of them are willing to devote their spare time to keeping the city clean and beautiful.

During their clean-up operations, the group’s members take photos and make videos to share them on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, aiming to spread meaningful messages and inspire more people to follow to protect the environment.

The Da Nang Green Group now boasts a TikTok account with over 3,500 followers and nearly 39,000 likes, and has received considerable positive engagement from the online community due to their meaningful actions to protect the environment.

Tra Hong Anh, a member of the Da Nang Green team, shared her enthusiasm for environmental protection.

'The moment I watched videos shared by Da Nang Green on social media, I was excited and inspired me to join the group immediately. As a member of the Da Nang Green Group, I've met dedicated individuals who are willing to devote their time and effort to protect the environment. Our group's efforts extend beyond just collecting trash, we also get involved in charitable activities to support those in need. I participated in a charity event where I joined forces with other members of the group to offer 150 free meals to patients at the Da Nang General Hospital. Seeing the patients' smiles filled me with immense happiness and further motivated me to do more meaningful actions to help others and give back,” she said.

The group's cleanup activities often start early, accommodating members' school and work schedules. They clean beaches, parks, and other areas about 2-3 times a week. Since March 2023, they have conducted over 60 clean-up sessions across the city. Their activities are self-funded, with cash contribution from their own pockets. Despite personal and logistical challenges, their determination only strengthens when they host a litter clean up in a particular area in an attempt to make it beautiful and tidy for everyone.

According to Pham Thi Khanh Ly, the leader of the Da Nang Green Group, individual efforts, even small actions for the environment, can bring a big change, contributing to make Da Nang cleaner and more beautiful. Furthermore, the group donates recyclable materials including paper, cans, and plastic bottles to the disadvantaged people to help them earn extra income, or uses the money earned from selling recyclables for charities.

Ly further noted, “We have identified litter hotspots across the city to conduct cleanup operations in coming time. We hope that the Da Nang Green Group will receive more attention and support from local communities to successfully perform our future projects, thereby making our city cleaner and more beautiful.”
