To meet year-end business needs, in mid-December 2023, the La Tuoi (Fresh Leaf) Farm supermarket chain posted a recruitment advertisement for 10 salespersons. According to supermarket representatives, at the year-end period, consumer demand for food and goods always increases, especially before and during the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays. So as to meet business activities, the supermarket recruits more employees to do consulting, introduction, sales, cashier work, and related tasks at branches in the supermarket chain with attractive salaries, depending on position.

Similarly, the Da Nang Che Lien (Lien Sweet soup) Company Limited posted a recruitment advertisement for seasonal staff to serve production and business activities at the end of the year and during Tet. Specifically, it recruited 3 male and 10 female workers aged 20 - 40 to work as production and packing staff. According to the company representative, the salary for seasonal employees is agreed between the two parties, guaranteed to be higher than the common level. At the same time, the salary for the Tet holiday increased by 3 times compared to normal days.

Since the start of December 2023, the votive paper production and processing factory owned by Ms. Ngo Hong Hanh, residing in Thac Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District has continuously posted recruitment information for seasonal workers on social networking sites. On days leading to Tet, the demand for this product is soaring up, so Ms. Hanh regularly recruits seasonal workers to work.

"I'm recruiting people to work continuously from now until Tet, with priority given to students looking for part-time jobs. Actual hourly salary at VND16,000/hour. At the same time, I always create flexible conditions in terms of time and working hours for students to work part-time in their free time.”, said Ms. Hanh.

As a unit specialising in the production of all kinds of cookies, Ms. Dinh Nguyen Hoang Thu, the Director of Viet Sun High-Tech Cooperative said that during the ongoing peak production of Tet products, the cooperative regularly recruits seasonal workers involved in packaging cakes with a salary of VND 25,000/hour.

Meanwhile, to meet the entertainment and tourism needs of tourists during the New Year and Lunar New Year 2024 seasons, the Sun World Ba Na Hills Resort recruits staffers in many positions. Specifically, it has recruited 7 ticket checkers, 10 game operators, 10 cashiers, 30 restaurant workers, 15 concierge staffers, 4 ticket salespersons, 15 kitchen assistants and 10 kitchen staffers. To attract workers, the company has supported 100% shift meals, accommodation for workers from other cities and provinces, and assigned buses to take workers from the city center to the workplace and vice versa.

Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, a third year student at the University of Education, a member school of the University of Da Nang, is currently taking on two seasonal jobs: serving the wedding restaurant on weekends and packing goods in the evening. Thuy said: “Seasonal jobs usually do not require experience or skills, just health and time, so they are very suitable for students. Besides, seasonal jobs often pay daily and weekly wages at quite high rates, so they are very attractive to workers”.

As someone who often "hunts" for seasonal jobs on social networking sites, Tran Thai Binh, a fourth year student at the University of Science and Technology, a member school of the University of Da Nang, said that there are currently many groups of seasonal job sharing on Facebook. This is an environment for employers to post recruitment ads and for students and workers to search for suitable jobs. However, many people also take advantage of this platform to post disguised recruitment ads for fraudulent purposes. “When looking for a job, people need to pay attention to job postings that do not clearly state the address or company name but require a private message. This is most likely fraudulent content.”, said Binh.
