Ensuring safety and security in Da Nang Port Border Gate
Being one of the country’s major ports with increasingly investments in port logistic system and simplified administrative procedures, the Da Nang port is striving to meet the country's development requirements. The positive results gained by the Da Nang port has been partly attributed to the dedicated efforts of the uniformed military personnel stationed here.

As the Da Nang port is a largest center for import-export and tourism activities in Central Viet Nam, the border guards in the Da Nang Port Border Gate are tasked with protecting the national sovereignty over its territorial sea, and ensuring security and safety in the Da Nang Port. The border guards stationed at the Da Nang Port Border Gate has made great efforts to ensure national defence and security, as well as promote positive international relations. Recent years have witnessed an increasing number of international cruise ships carrying a large number of crew members and foreign passengers, along with foreign military vessels which arrived at the Da Nang Port in line with Vietnamese Government's foreign policy of openness and diversification and multilateralization of international relations.
Lieutenant Colonel Doan Van Tinh, the Commander of the Da Nang Port Border Gate, reported that last year, the unit handled entry and exit procedures and port transfers for nearly 2,000 foreign ships, along with thousands of crew members and cruise passengers, plus millions of tons of cargo. In addition, it handled procedures for entering and leaving of 3,279 domestic ships with 40,403 crew members, and over 4.5 million tons of cargo.
Moreover, the unit worked with functional units to arrest 10 people for illegal possession, trading, and transportation of narcotic drugs, impose administrative fines on 18 individuals, and handled hundreds of violations of security and safety regulations at the port border gate.
Lieutenant Colonel Doan Van Tinh shared that regarding foreign military ships arriving at the Da Nang port, his unit is responsible for taking effective measures to keep activities of these ships and their crew members running smoothly as scheduled. Heed was paid to quickly handling procedures for the entry and exit of foreign ships and goods at the Da Nang Port Border Gate in line with Vietnamese laws and international regulations. Importance was attached to closely working with relevant local units to ensure security in the Da Nang Port Border Gate.
Border guard officers and soldiers are also engaged in introducing the foreign policy of Viet Nam to foreign crew members, sailors, and passengers arriving in Da Nang in a bid to help them understand this policy better while promoting the land and people of Viet Nam to international friends, thereby helping them have a correct awareness of Viet Nam in all aspects, contributing to forging a flourishing relationship between Viet Nam with other countries around the world.
