Hundreds of poor households in Da Nang receive pre-Tet gifts

On Friday morning, at the headquarters of the People’s Committee of Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, hundreds of Tet gifts were given to poor social policy households in the locality.

As part of the “Border Spring Warms Hearts of Border People" and the fourth edition of the “Tet for the Poor" programmes, the gift giving activity was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoa Minh Ward, the Hai Van Border Guard Station, and the ‘Dong Cam’ (Empathy) Charity Club.

On the occasion, 200 gifts of necessities, worth VND450,000 each, were presented to social policy families in difficult circumstances.

At the same time, the Hai Van Border Guard Station gave 40 gifts of VND500,000 in cash each to poor local families. Of these, 20 gifts came from the "Fund for the Poor" of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Lien Chieu District, and the remainder were funded by the Dong Cam Charity Club.

Speaking at the programme, Major Pham Minh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Hai Van Border Guard Station said "Border Spring Warms Hearts of Border People" and the fourth edition of the “Tet for the Poor" were an meaningful and humane activity. This activity expressed the affection between the military and people in the maritime border area who have always loved and stood side by side with the border guards in the cause of building and protecting the national security.

“We hope that these small gifts will partly help recipients celebrate a joyful, warm and happy Tet" Major Tuan shared.

Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoa Minh Ward Pham Thi Lien said that Hoa Minh Ward was home to 31 residential areas, including 623 poor households, 249 near-poor households and thousands of households in difficult circumstances.

She highlighted the significance of the gift giving programme in contributing to improving the spiritual and material lives of local people, strengthening solidarity and close relationship between the military and people, and further enhancing the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new era.

"In the coming time, the ward hopes to continue to receive more active support and special attention from organisations and units at all levels to better ensure social welfare in 2024" Mrs. Lien emphasised.
