In late December 2023, hundreds of preschoolers and primary school pupils participated in a child program which was launched by the Da Nang Border Guard in order to provide military training for them, allowing them to become a border guard.

Over 100 children of the Bo Cong Anh Kindergarten located in Hai Chau district participated in such an event on December 27, 2023. The participants received training in martial arts, military formations, and gardening skills. In addition, they also paid a visit to a border guard station based in the Tien Sa Port's border gate to learn about daily life of border guard officers and soldiers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Linh, the school's principal, expressed enthusiasm about the event, noting its role in helping preschoolers get acquainted with a military environment, developing their self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility to excel in study and life in the future.

In December 2023, around 200 attendees from the Hoang Nhi Pre-school in Cam Le District and the Phan Thanh Primary School in Hai Chau District participated in an exchange program with officers and soldiers of the guard station based in the Tien Sa Port's Border Gate.

Tran Hai Mien, a fifth-grader of the Phan Thanh Primary School, was visibly moved by his first exchange with officers and soldiers at the Tien Sa Port's border gate guard station.

She said: "We really enjoyed this exchange program that provided military training for us with a strong focus on fitness and self-discipline. This program not only helped us boost our physical strength and endurance but also taught us persistence and neatness. Additionally, it helped us gain a deeper insight into the life of border guards who are working tirelessly to protect our country's maritime borders."

Colonel Do Van Dong, the Political Commissar of the Da Nang Border Guard, said: "Border Guard units based in Da Nang have worked with local schools to roll out numerous meaningful and far-reaching programs, including the above-mentioned military training. This program aims to help school pupils get acquainted with a military environment, and empower them with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop self-discipline, and diligence. Using these skills as a roadmap for life, they will be able to successfully tackle challenges of all shapes and sizes, and have the ability to do so with confidence – whether at school, at home, in social circles and beyond. This program also helps them produce a positive attitude and behavioural change, as well as helps them to be useful and contribute to the society, show empathy and demonstrate understanding to the other, and understand the true value of life to live a meaningful life."
