Since early January 2024, the Care Centre for People with Revolutionary Merits under the Da Nang Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs has begun to welcome a large number of delegations of visitors.
The space of the centre is filled with spring colours of Tet flower pots and ornamental plants.
Each person's room door is decorated with the words ‘Longevity’ and ‘Happiness’ in blue, red, and yellow tones by students of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology.
Having been cared for by the centre for 8 years, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ai My, born in 1943, said that every year when spring comes, the people here are happier than usual.
In addition to full, thoughtful and warm care by staff of the centre, the elderly welcome groups of students citywide who come to the centre to send Tet greetings, organise cultural exchange activities, and listen to the sharing of previous generations.
Director of the Centre Pham Thi Oanh said that the centre is now caring for 45 people with meritorious services and single seniors, about 30 of whom will celebrate Tet at the Centre.
To ensure full and appropriate implementation of eating, resting, living, and entertainment activities during Tet days, since the beginning of January, the Centre has made specific plans for each task.
At the same time, the Centre has coordinated with schools citywide to organise exchange and cultural activities, as well as clean up and decorate rooms for the elderly ahead of Tet.
Moreover, the Centre has paid Tet allowances according to the instructions of the municipal Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
“On Lunar New Year’s Eve, the Center will prepare a feast to worship ancestors, praying for a good health year ahead, let the elderly listen to the President's Lunar New Year letter, and give lucky money to the elderly” Mrs. Oanh shared.

Meanwhile, at the municipal Red Cross Society's Charity Career Orientation Centre which is now providing vocational training to 50 students with disabilities aged 14 years and over, the atmosphere becomes more bustling and cheerful than ever.
With the theme "Full Tet", on February 5 and 6, 30 members of the Blisskidz Club which works for children visited the centre and organsied a number of folk games such as tug of war, jumping rope, and ‘rong ran len may’ (dragon-snake) for the centre’s students.
Also, the centre’s children had the opportunity to gather around the fire to cook Chung cakes and sing songs to each other.
In particular, the Blisskidz Club also prepared ‘ao dai’ and accessories for the centre’s children to take Tet photos.
Although many of the Centre's children couldnot express their joy in words, their faces showed great excitement and were filled with happiness and surprise when wearing ‘ao dai’ for the first time.
Nguyen Mai Thao Nhi, a 11th grader of the Le Quy Don Senior High School for the Gifted, who is the Head of the Blisskidz Club, emotionally said "Most of the children at the centre have disabilities and are at a disadvantage compared to other young people. Therefore, through this activity, we hope they will experience Tet activities like everyone else".

According to Mr. Le Tan Hong, Director of the Centre, about one month before Tet, many delegations of leaders of the city, units, businesses, charity associations and other groups visited, gave gifts and organised exciting games for children here.
Recently, in early February, the InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort visited and presented gifts to the centre’s children on the occasion of Tet 2024.
Staff of the resort staff helped the Centre repaint the gate and swing; rebuild the vegetable garden so that children can have more clean vegetables at every meal; and plant flowers around the Centre's campus, all bringing a joyful and colorful spring atmosphere.
Besides fun experience activities at the centre, when children go home to celebrate Tet with their families, they will receive Tet gifts.
“Most of the families of the children at the Centre are in difficult circumstances. Therefore, these gifts will bring not only material meaning but also spiritual joy to their families during Tet," Mr. Hong added.
