Visiting pagodas at the beginning of the lunar new year is not merely an activity associated with Buddhism, but it has become an age-old cultural tradition, and an indispensable part in Vietnamese people’s spiritual life.

As observed by our reporter, from the early morning of the first day of the lunar new year, crowds of people were seen going to temples and pagodas to pray for a happy and prosperous lunar new year for their families.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Chung, a resident of Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District, said that every year, her family always visited a pagoda to experience moments of peace of mind and make some prayers on the first day of the lunar new year.

In addition, numerous people in Da Nang have visited various recreational venues, including flower streets, during their ongoing celebration of the Tet holiday.

The Linh Ung Pagoda in Son Tra District was crowded Saturday morning with people coming to seek divine blessings, a Vietnamese tradition during New Year.

Taking photos with his family on the Bach Dang spring flower street, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, residing in Khue My Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, said that the decorative miniatures and mascots were very eye-catching, lively and sophisticated. He really liked the dragon mascots, especially the mascot modeled after the design of the Dragon Bridge that can breathe fire and spray water every night.

This area is also decorated with many miniature peach and apricot blossom gardens, creating a familiar photo spot for many residents and tourists every Tet holiday. Besides, people also ask for calligraphy with good wishes and luck.
