Since his childhood, Rin dreamed of working in the medical field. After graduating from the Da Nang University of Medicine and Pharmacy with a Bachelor's degree of Laboratory Medicine, Rin has worked at the Department of Hematology - Blood Transfusion of the Da Nang Hospital since 2010.

He recalled “The first time I donated blood when I was a student in 2007. At that time, I saw a mobile blood donation vehicle parking in my school campus, and I visited and donated blood for the first time”.

After each blood donation, the man feels more optimistic and loves life because he has done something meaningful for the community. The most important thing is that the amount of donated blood is very useful for patients who need blood transfusions to continue to maintain life.

Over the past nearly 17 years, Rin has donated blood nearly 40 times, including 16 times of donating platelets. The number of blood donations he participated in was greater than his age.

Recently, on May 23, on his way home from work, Rin received information that a patient being treated at the Poison Resuscitation Department had suspected sepsis focusing on the gastrointestinal tract, bone marrow failure, and septic shock and he was in dire need of blood but there are no donors. Without thinking long, Rin hurried back to the hospital to donate blood.

Thanks to the acumen and timely care of the doctors and nurses as well as the technicians of the Poison Resuscitation Department, the patient quickly overcame the critical situation.

After the stabilization of his health condition, the 62-year-old patient could not hide his emotions and thanked Mr. Rin for donating blood and the department’s medical staff for timely care and treatment

“I will never forget the good gestures the doctors gave me" he said.

Not only does he himself participate in humanitarian blood donation, Rin also encourages his family members and friends to donate blood and helps them understand the benefits of blood donation.

"As long as I am still eligible to donate blood, I will continue to participate in blood donation and encourage my friends and family members to do the same" Mr. Rin said.

With the results achieved in his professional work as well as humanitarian blood donation activities, Mr. Duong Van Rin has received many encouragements and rewards. However, he always believes that the biggest reward is patients' trust and love in the team of medical workers who are silently and actively treating and taking care of people’s health.

He and other shining examples are still persistently and silently donating blood to contribute to saving lives of patients and spreading acts of kindness to the community.
