Helping women in border regions stabilize their lives

In their efforts to effectively implementing the program ‘Supporting women in border regions", the Women's Unions at all levels in Da Nang have worked with the Border Guard to organize many activities to help women and children in border areas in Central Viet Nam, thereby providing motivation for them for economic development in an attempt to help them overcome difficulties and hardships in life, as well as encourage their active participation in protecting border regions of the country.

In mid-April, a working group of the Da Nang Women's Union, Thanh Khe District’s Women's Organization, the Phu Loc Border Guard Station, along with some businesses paid a visit to Huong Lam Commune, Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province to give meaningful gifts to local women and children.

The Da Nang visitors provided financial aid worth more than VND150 million in total to support building a charity house, gave 100 gifts, 12 livelihood models, 15 bicycles to social policy beneficiaries, poor women and children in Huong Lam Commune. In addition, heed was paid to giving gifts to the local Women's Union and the Ban Giang Border Guard Station located in Huong Khe District. Furthermore, special attention was paid to organizing many exchange activities to encourage women's union officials, officers and men of the Ban Giang Border Guard Station to complete their assigned tasks. Importance was attached to supporting local people to improve their lives, thereby ensuring national defense and security, safeguarding national sovereignty, and protecting national border security.

Launched in 2018, the coordination program between the Women's Unions of Da Nang and Ha Tinh Province has provided practical support for locals in Huong Lam and Huong Vinh communes, Huong Khe District. In particular, the Da Nang Women's Union has raised more than VND 1.2 billion from individuals and organizations in a bid to join hands with local authorities to help women in border areas with job creation and livelihoods assistance, thereby contributing to poverty reduction in these areas. With their joint effort, Huong Vinh and Huong Lam communes have been recognized as new-style rural areas.

Chairwoman of Huong Khe District’s Women Organization Tran Thi Hong Tham, said that the meaningful gifts from the Da Nang Women's Union for local poor women showcase their value to bring love and kindness to these people, thereby promoting the local socio-economic development, gradually helping local people move out of poverty to stabilize their lives.

Since 2023, the Da Nang Women's Union has mobilized resources to support Axan and Tr'hy communes, Tay Giang District, Quang Nam Province in line with the directions from the Viet Nam Women's Union as these areas are border regions where there are many people in especially difficult circumstances. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024, the Da Nang Women's Union visited and provided financial assistance worth VND 100 million in total for 2 poor families to build and repair their houses, and gave 100 Tet gifts to women in difficult circumstances in Tr'hy and Axan communes. Heed was paid to giving 266 warm coats and gifts totaling more than VND 200 million to pupils of the Axan Primary School.

In April, members of the Hai Chau District Women's Organization, along with officers and men of the Da Nang Port Border Gate continued to visit Tr'hy commune to donate charity houses, livelihoods and gifts totaling VND 170 million to women and school pupils in difficult circumstances.

Hopefully, our suport will contribute to partly helping local people, including women, in ​​Tr'hy Commune, and Tay Giang District as a whole, overcome difficulties and hardships in life. "

According to Chairwoman of the Da Nang Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong, the Women's Unions at all levels in the city have yielded positive results from the program ‘Supporting women in border regions' in recent times as the program has received widespread attention and has encouraged active participation of officials and members of women organizations. In their efforts to effectively implement the program ‘All people participate in protecting national sovereignty and national border security", the Women's Unions at all levels in the city has provided practical support for women in border regions through taking specific and meaningful actions that embrace our shared humanity, thereby, contributing to providing motivation for women to rise up in life to have a more stable life, as well as encouraging them to join hands with the border guards to protect national sovereignty and border security.
