At about 6:30 a.m., Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, the Deputy Leader of the Han River Environment Team No. 1 under the Marine Environment Enterprise, along with his teammates began collecting and cleaning a section of the Han river stretching from the foot of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge to that of the Thuan Phuoc Bridge. They use a boat, life jackets, specialized trash rackets, and personal protective equipment to clean the river.
Mr. Tuan said that the Han River cleanups is an important task that is regularly carried out by the enterprise as this river impressed tourists with its beauty. Therefore, the enterprise daily deploys its sanitation workers to collect trash in the early morning to keep the river clean.
“Even though we find it quite difficult to keep the river clean and tidy, especially in the rainy season, we are determined to keep the Han River beautiful in the eyes of tourists. We hope that local people and tourists will raise their awareness about protecting the environment, and will be willing to join hands with Da Nang to create a eco-friendly city," Mr. Tuan shared.
The Marine Environment Enterprise is the unit responsible for preserving the environment, and removing trash and duckweed from sections of rivers flowing through the city, including the east and west banks of the Han River, Co Co and Do rivers.
In its efforts to ensure environmental hygiene and urban beauty, especially river sections that are filled with tourists, including the east and west banks of the Han River, the enterprise has taken effective measures to make sure that sanitation workers are available in the both banks of the river to keep these areas clean. Furthermore, heed is paid to deploying more sanitation workers to these places, increasing the use of specialized means and equipment to respond to unexpected incidents on the river and in cases of extreme weather, natural disasters, storms and floods.
At the Da Nang tourist beaches, every day, the Marine Environment Enterprise deploys 55 sanitation workers and sends 2 Trucks Screening Sand, 1 trash rake and 1 waste collection vehicle to collect trash and clean these areas.
Marine Environment Enterprise Director Nguyen Xuan Hoa said that a large amount of trash has been recently washed ashore at some beaches in Tho Quang and Man Thai wards in Son Tra District so the enterprise has deployed its sanitation workers, and sent trash collection vehicles to these places to preserve the quality of environments. In addition, importance has been attached to adjusting the working hours of workers earlier with a focus on cleaning such main beaches as My Khe, Pham Van Dong, My An, T20, T18, Man Thai, and Ha Khe in an attempt to keep the beaches clean for swimmers.
According to Mr. Hoa, trash collected by workers is transported and treated within the same day. The Enterprise also requires its workers to use sand sifters and trash rakes to collect small such sharp objects as glass bottle fragments, beer caps, snails, clams, and cigarette butts in an effort to make the beach cleaner and more beautiful. Heed is also paid to using 2 garbage collection vehicles that operate on the beach for faster collection. Morover, the Enterprise has established a group of mobile workers to promptly handle unexpected situations that arise at the beach. Special attention is paid to cleaning the beach between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
In particular, high priority will be given to deploying more sanitation workers to beaches, viewing areas and the Han River to conduct cleanups during the upcoming Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024.
