The zero-VND meals, raised by the Women's Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang, from its officials and members, and philanthropists, have provided essential support and spiritual encouragement to poor laborers and those facing difficult circumstances, helping them overcome life's challenges.

Every noon on the 20th of each month, at the An My Park in An Hai Tay Ward, a large group of dedicated officials, members, and women busily prepare these heartfelt meals for the low-income earners.

In the scorching heat, with beads of sweat on her face, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Chi, a regular participant in the charity programme, shared that despite her busy family life, the spirit of community and sharing motivates the women to contribute in various ways. They all hope to provide nutritious, hygienic meals for those in need.

Mrs. Nguyen Thuy Hong My Le Dung, President of the Women's Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward, noted that seeing many poor labourers struggling with food expenses inspired the formation of the "Loving Meals for Poor Labourers" initiative. This model has been in place for eight years and continues to operate regularly. Every month, the women gather to shop, cook, and distribute meals. Though it is hard work, everyone finds joy in helping the community.

Present at the meal distribution, we could see the eyes, smiles, and joy of the poor labourers as they received their heartfelt meals.

Mr. Ng.Tr.D from Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District, emotionally said while receiving a free meal from Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van: “I am a freelance worker, doing whatever is called for. My family is poor, and if I eat out, a meal costs VND 25,000, and eating for a whole day would cost VND 50,000. Being poor with no money, getting meals like this is very precious. This is truly a great encouragement that helps us have more faith to overcome life's difficulties.”

Perhaps it is not just Mr. D, but this is also the common sentiment of many other difficult circumstances when coming to the “Loving Meals for Poor Labourers” initiative launched by the Women's Union of An Hai Tay Ward.

According to Mrs. Thanh Van, organizing these loving meals to serve the people involves a significant amount of work. Each time, hundreds of meals are distributed. Along with that, each guest also receives a cool glass of fruit juice.

Despite the hardship, for the women, doing charity work and helping others brings joy every day. To date, the “Loving Meals for Poor Labourers” model has provided more than 14,400 free meals, totalling nearly VND 480 million, to needy people.

"The women operate on a voluntary basis, sharing all tasks. Everyone is enthusiastic, not fussing over big or small tasks, because we all want to see the labourers happy when we personally hand them meals filled with love and our efforts," Mrs. Le Dung added.

The solidarity, love, and spirit of not fearing hardship or difficulty among the officials and members of the Women's Union chapter of An Hai Tay Ward have contributed to effectively implementing social welfare policies in the ward.
