A ceremony was held in Da Nang on Saturday to celebrate the 99^th anniversary of Viet Nam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21) and honour winners of the municipal-level Press Awards 2023.

In his speech delivered at the ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam congratulated the authors and groups of authors who have won the municipal-level Press Awards 2023.

He highlighted important role of the city-based press agencies in widely publicising the Party's lines and guidelines, the State's policies and laws and the country's achievements, thereby contributing to promoting the city’s socio-economic development, raising public awareness, and meeting people's healthy cultural needs.

He also affirmed that journalism activities have developed new, positive and dynamic steps, making an important contribution to the overall development of the city.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the municipal Journalists’ Association Nguyen Duc Nam reviewed the 99-year tradition of Viet Nam’s Revolutionary Press Day. He also emphasised that the press not only provided information, but also contributed to shaping public opinion and creating confidence among people during the development of the city and the country as a whole.

Also at the event, the organisers awarded 6 first, 6 second, 7 third and 15 consolation prizes to outstanding reporters.

Reporters from the Da Nang Newspaper won many awards at the municipal-level Press Awards in 2023. In particular, a group of reporters Hua Van Hai and Ngoc Phu took the first prize for a series of articles about protecting officials who dare to think and dare to do (3 articles). Reporters Nguyen Trong Huy and Le Van Hung, along with the group of authors Phuong Tra, Quoc Cuong, Viet Dung and Thanh Huyen grabbed the consolation prize.

On the occasion, the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association awarded the medal "For the cause of Viet Nam's journalism" to 4 qualified journalists. The municipal Journalists’ Association donated 10 scholarships to poor studious students.
