Flower lantern releasing ceremony pays tribute to heroes and martyrs

A ceremony to release flower-shaped lanterns on the Cu De River was held at the Con Mieu, Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang, on Wednesday evening to celebrate the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27).

Thousands of lanterns are released on the Cu De River, which expresses deep gratitude of today's generation to the previous generations who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the country.

The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere. Representatives of agencies, departments, associations, unions, and residential areas in the district took turns offering flowers and incense to commemorate heroic martyrs who died for national independence.

To mark the occasion, the municipal People's Committee gave 10 gifts, worth VND1.5 million each, and the Lien Chieu District People's Committee presented 10 gifts, valued at VND500,000, to poor social policy families in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward.

Most recently, authorities in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward awarded 237 gifts, totalling VND 47.4 million, to relatives of martyrs, war invalids, and sick soldiers on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day.
