Happiness is giving
With the guideline "Happiness is sharing - Living is giving, not just receiving", for nearly 17 years, members of the ‘Tien Phong’ (Pioneer) Team of the Da Nang University of Economics have spread the meaningful message to many young people through a variety of environmental protection and community-oriented activities.

On the opening night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024) on June 8, local people and tourists were especially impressed with the image of a group of young people actively collecting waste around the viewing stands, and along Tran Hung Dao and both banks of the Han River after the end of the fireworks shows. That group included members of the Tien Phong team.
Le Nguyen Anh Phuong, a 3rd year student majoring in Economic Law of the Da Nang University of Economics, leader of the Tien Phong Team, shared that the team organised the programme "Tien Phong’s accompany for clean DIFF" on the opening and final nights of the ongoing international-scale fireworks festival.
Accordingly, the team members engage in watching fireworks, propagating environmental protection messages, and collecting trash to ensure a clean and beautiful landscape.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Do Anh Thu, a 2nd year student majoring in Tourism, a member of the Tien Phong team, said that to make the city more beautiful in the eyes of both residents and tourists, Thu got actively involved in collecting trash at assigned areas. She hoped that her action will contribute to raising public awareness of preserving a green - clean - beautiful environment, as well as promote the image of a liveable city to tourists around the world.
Along with that, the Tien Phong Team's annual programme "Exchange paper for green trees" also brings a positive message about environmental protection and spreading green lifestyle.
In addition, more than 250 free portions of porridge are given to poor hospital patients every Saturday.
“Seeing the joy of patients when holding free portions of porridge in their hands becomes the motivation for team members to carry out more meaningful activities in the future" Nguyen Phuoc Lam, a team member, confided.
Currently, the Tien Phong Team has more than 2,000 members, and regularly maintains community and charity activities such as Red Sunday, Green Sunday, and environmental sanitation projects.
Dr. Tran Xuan Quynh, Secretary of the Youth Union organisation of the Da Nang University of Economics, shared that the Tien Phong Team is the largest volunteer team under the University’s Youth Union organisation.
In recent years, the team has always been a pioneer in the university’s youth union movement activities and received many Certificates of Merit in recognition of its active involvement in volunteer movements and campaigns. Hopefully, in the coming time, the team will grow stronger and have many innovations in charity programmes to bring happiness to everyone, Dr. Quynh said.
