On a scorching summer day, the sight of free, cool lemonade offered outside the Thanh Khe Dong Ward-based Police Station on Tran Cao Van Street not only quenches the thirst of passersby but also enhances the image of the People's Public Security officers serving the people.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Thanh Khe Dong Ward Ho Quoc Trung highlighted that in 2024, the ward had two exemplary models of "Clever mass mobilisation". One of them, "Thanh Khe Dong Ward Police: Journey Connecting - From Heart to Heart", initiated by the ward police, has positively spread the image of friendly and dedicated local officers.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thanh Son, Chief of Thanh Khe Dong Ward Police, mentioned that the model originated from officers' frequent engagements with the community, where they encountered many residents in genuine need of assistance. During the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019-2020 which heavily impacted the lives of citizens, especially the vulnerable and disadvantaged, the "Supporting Love, Encouraging Education" model was launched. This initiative, in collaboration with local schools, aimed to help pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who showed a strong will to excel in their studies. Funds were raised not only from the ward police officers but also through partnerships with generous individuals, organisations, and businesses, providing students with books, uniforms, and bicycles.

In addition, the "Green Banh Tet - For a Warm Tet" programme, held annually, has distributed hundreds of ‘banh tet’ to needy families. The "Compassionate Meal" programme, which provides free meals to patients, primarily at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital, every Monday, has also been actively supported by the ward police.

Following the successful implementation of the models, the "Thanh Khe Dong Ward Police: Journey Connecting - From Heart to Heart" model emerged, combining the aforementioned initiatives and making a significant mark in "Clever mass mobilisation" work.

"The actions of the ward police officers are highly effective, rich in humanity, and have created a positive, widespread impact within the community. This model has been sustained over many years and was recognised in 2023 by the Thanh Khe District Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Department for outstanding achievements," Mr Trung stated.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thanh Son, in 2023, under the "Motherhood Support" programme, the ward police adopted and supported an orphaned child from the residential group No 39 with a yearly assistance of VND 6 million.

They also collaborated with the Ward People's Committee to provide means of livelihood to four individuals under post-rehabilitation management, aiming to guide and support them in abandoning drug use and becoming productive members of society.

The "Green Banh Tet - For a Warm Tet" programme distributed shopping vouchers to needy families and gifted over 700 ‘banh tet’ to poor and near-poor households.

The "Compassionate Meal" programme provided 2,950 free meals at hospitals in 2023. Additionally, the ward police teamed up with the Thanh Dat Tutoring Centre to offer six free tutoring scholarships.

Through the effective implementation of the "Clever Mass Mobilisation" model alongside fulfilling professional duties, the Thanh Khe Dong ward-based Police have been recognised as an exemplary clean and strong party cell for four consecutive years from 2020-2023 by the ward-level Party Committee and have received the "Decisive Victory" unit award from Director of the municipal Department of Public Security for four consecutive years.
