In alignment with the municipal Youth Union's directive to continue promoting the effectiveness of the "We are always with you, mothers" model for the 2023-2025 period, the youth of Da Nang have been diligently caring for and supporting 70 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers residing in the city. This initiative deeply reflects the younger generation's gratitude for the immense sacrifices and contributions made by their predecessors.

As is customary, around the annual celebration of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27), the city's youth intensify their "Gratitude to revolution contributors" efforts with various meaningful activities.

Recently, in the spirit of honouring the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, the Youth Union organisation of the Nguyen Van Linh Junior High School in Hoa Vang District, in collaboration with the school's party cell and trade union, visited, offered incense, and presented gifts to three families of social policy beneficiaries in the district.

During their visit to Mother Lam Thi Thiet, who worships two martyr sons, the Youth Union members inquired about her health and living conditions, and encouraged her to maintain good health to enjoy life with her grandchildren.

Nguyen Thi Giang Thuy, Secretary of the Hoa Vang District’s Youth Union organisation, mentioned that the district currently has 12 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers. Under the model, the district-based Youth Union organisation has directed grassroots units to organise activities on the 26th and 27th of July at the homes of these 12 mothers. Depending on each family's circumstances, the youth members visit, present gifts, tidy altars, clean gardens, repaint houses, cook memorial meals for the martyrs, and dine with the mothers.

Besides directing and assigning its chapters, the Standing Committee of the district-based Youth Union organisation also visited Heroic Vietnamese Mother Dang Thi Hoi in Hoa Chau Commune and organised a martyr's death anniversary at the house of martyr Le Huu Lieu in Hoa Khuong Commune to express their deep gratitude.

Similarly, the Youth Union organisation of Lien Chieu District has organised and assigned units to implement the "We are always with you, mothers" model at the homes of five Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, including Pham Thi Ta, Le Thi Buoi, Pham Thi Quang, Luong Thi Tinh, and Tran Thi Gioi.

Huynh Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Youth Union organisation of Lien Chieu District, stated that youth members not only visit the mothers on the 27th of July each year but also maintain the model on other significant holidays and anniversaries throughout the year to provide comfort and companionship.

The Youth Union organisation of Ngu Hanh Son District has been assigned to care for 13 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers residing in the area.

Under the model, youth union members from wards, the armed forces, and civil servants regularly visit, interact, and present gifts to the mothers every two months.

Particularly on the martyrs' death anniversaries, they assist the mothers with cleaning altars, house cleaning, and preparing memorial meals.

Upholding the tradition of "Gratitude to revolution contributors," the district’s Youth Union consistently holds incense offerings at martyrs' cemeteries twice a month, organises the "Candlelight gratitude" programme at the Hoa Hai and Hoa Quy ward martyrs' cemeteries, and visits families of war invalids, wounded soldiers, and people with contributions to the revolution.

According to Nguyen Thi Anh Thao, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Youth Union, the "We are always with you, mothers" model has been carried out since 2021. Da Nang currently has 70 mothers cared for by over 20 youth units. Every two months, especially on holidays, anniversaries, and the Lunar New Year, the units organise visits, conversations, gift-giving, health check-ups, and shared meals with the mothers.

"This meaningful and practical model by the city's youth contributes to the care and support of the mothers, enhancing their spiritual lives. It also emphasises the youth's role and responsibility in implementing 'Gratitude to revolution contributors' policies for those who have contributed to the revolution," Ms Thao shared.

Meanwhile, according to the Department of Labour, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, the 70 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers in the city are being cared for by various agencies and units, receiving a minimum monthly support of VND 1 million each. If a mother's support is below this amount, the city supplements it to ensure a minimum of VND 1 million per month per mother. Additionally, the mothers receive healthcare allowances of VND 1.5 million/person/month, while severely wounded and sick soldiers get VND 1 million/person/month.
