The task of instilling revolutionary ideals and a sense of patriotism in officials, Party members, civil servants, and the younger generation is a priority for the Party Committees and Youth Unions at all levels in Da Nang. This contributes to fostering a sense of responsibility and dedication among these groups, aiding in the city’s development.

Igniting national pride

Mrs Nguyen Thi Tam, a People's Armed Forces Hero, naturally and effectively conveys the revolutionary spirit to the city's youth. She often meets with students and young people to share stories of her valiant days in combat. She would recount the real events of the fierce battles fought by the Seven Thanh Khe Heroes whose resolve to fight the enemy and readiness to sacrifice remained unshaken despite brutal torture. Her aim was to instill a sense of national pride in the youth, motivating them to become competent and virtuous citizens dedicated to serving the nation. She expressed her hope that the younger generation would strive to master technology, contributing to the prosperous development of Da Nang.

During July, many Party cells chose to organise thematic activities through trips to historical sites to educate officials and Party members on revolutionary traditions. Mr. Phan Minh Chan, Secretary of the Da Nang Tax Department's Office Party Cell, mentioned a recent trip to the K20 Revolutionary Base, Ngu Hanh Son District for exemplary officials and Party members. Other Party cells under the Thanh Khe-Lien Chieu Tax Sub-department organised visits to significant historical sites like the Nui Thanh Victory Monument, Quang Nam Province, Nuoc Oa Historical Site, Quang Nam Provice, Quang Tri Citadel, and Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery.

As shared by Mr Phan Minh Chan, these trips to historical sites aim to enhance the dissemination of revolutionary traditions, kindle national pride among officials and Party members, and inspire exemplary individuals to strive for Party membership. This helps them develop their political resilience, moral qualities, and lifestyle, thereby improving the quality of Party branch activities and the leadership capacity of grassroots Party organisations.

Meaningful activities

Le Xuan Thanh, Secretary of the Youth Union organisation in Ngu Hanh Son District, highlighted the numerous practical activities organised around the anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (27 July). These include the “Gratitude Candlelight” ceremony at the Hoa Hai and Hoa Quy Ward Martyrs' Cemeteries; hosting gratitude meals; and visiting, and presenting gifts to families of martyrs, war invalids, and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. They also support 13 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers in the district through the "Always by your side" model. These activities help the youth understand the history, recognise the significance of their actions, and ignite a patriotic spirit. This serves as a motivation for them to live meaningfully, honouring the sacrifices of their forebears in the struggle for national independence and freedom.

Ms Nguyen Thi Anh Thao, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union, noted that activities such as “Gratitude”, “when drinking water, remember its source”, the “Always by your side” model, the “Lighting up Cemeteries”, and the “Flowers for Martyrs' Graves” programme are regularly organised. These activities play a crucial role in educating the youth on revolutionary spirit, nurturing patriotism, and evoking national pride.

On 21 July, the Da Nang Youth Union launched a “Green Sunday” campaign with specific activities such as environmental clean-ups; repairing and beautifying memorial plaques, monuments, memorial houses, and martyrs' cemeteries; and planting more trees to create a green, clean, and beautiful environment. Additionally, the Union annually collaborates with the Veterans Association, the Former Youth Volunteers’ Association, and the Patriotic Prisoners’ Association to organise revolutionary tradition education activities for youth and teenagers.

“Through these stories, the younger generation recognises the immense sacrifices made by their forebears in the struggle for national independence. This inspires them to uphold revolutionary traditions, live with ideals, and strive for academic and personal excellence to be worthy of those sacrifices,” shared Ms Thao.
