The Da Nang Youth Federation held its eighth congress for the 2024-2029 tenure in the city on Wednesday.

Speaking at the congress, Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh highly praised the Youth Federation for its remarkable achievements over the past term.

He proposed the Youth Federation continue to innovate and diversify the methods of operation in order to effectively carry out the work of educating political ideology, revolutionary ideals, patriotic traditions, ethics, and cultural lifestyle for the youth; as well as further promote the pioneering, volunteering, and creative role of the youth.

He also stressed the need for the Federation and its chapters at all levels to closely follow the leadership orientation of the Party Committee and the government to proactively organise more action movements associated with the tasks of local socio-economic development; accompany young people in finding job opportunities and starting a business; and build, consolidate, and gather young people in many diverse and rich forms.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Permanent Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and President of the Viet Nam Youth Federation, suggested the Da Nang Youth Federation at grassroots level should continue to effectively implement the "I love my Fatherland" movement with more proactive, creative and effective ways.

Importance should be attached to grasping the thoughts and aspirations of young people, and encouraging them to establish clubs, groups and teams according to their interests, needs, and occupations, he added.

He hoped that the municipal Youth Federation will continue to mobilise and encourage the city's youth to build and form a cultural lifestyle and a sense of discipline, and have a spirit of initiative, volunteerism, dare to think, dare to do.

According to report released by the municipal Youth Federation, during the past term, more than 400 political education activities; 629 propaganda, dissemination and legal education activities; and 293 legal consulting and aid activities were organised for the youth.

Over 1,000 activities to show gratitude to revolution contributors were carried out across the city, attracting 52,256 members and young people.

The Youth Federation and its chapters at all levels proposed more than 32,000 creative ideas and initiatives; and organised 160 training, consulting and startup supporting sessions for more than 14,000 young people.

Notably, many unique models and activities were carried out such as "Innovative thinking" startup ride; a talk show "Mastering the 4.0 era with creative thinking"; festival "Connecting creative ideas - startups"; robot innovation festival with the theme "Da Nang’s Liberation"; and a festival for youth workers.

Through the volunteer programne, more than VND3.5 billion went to help the youth stabilise their lives, and give gifts to the poor, social policy families, religious people and ethnic minorities in difficult circumstances.

A total of 91,774 units of blood were collected from over 124,774 young people at voluntary blood donation campaigns.

On the occasion, the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Youth Federation awarded the emulation flag for 5 consecutive years to the Da Nang Youth Federation. The municipal People's Committee honoured 10 collectives for their outstanding achievements in youth movements during the 2019-2024 term.

41 candidates were elected to the Executive Board of the Da Nang Youth Federation for the 2024-2029 term. Mr. Nguyen Ba Duan, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Youth Union, was re-elected as President of the Youth Federation for the 2024-2029 term.
