Da Nang allocates VND 22 billion to support people in the North

The Relief Mobilisation Board of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang announced on Sunday that it had allocated VND 22 billion to localities affected by recent Typhoon Yagi.

Responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, on September 10, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang issued a letter calling for donations to help people in the worst-hit localities recover from the disaster.

According to the appeal, every cadre, civil servant, public employee, armed force member and worker in the city is encouraged to contribute a day's salary to the aid effort. Additionally, citizens, religious organisations, agencies, units and businesses are encouraged to donate voluntarily, according to their capacity and goodwill.

As of 3:30 pm on September 20, the Relief Mobilisation Board of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang had received over VND 22.8 billion in cash donations from 3,342 agencies, units, organisations and individuals.

The Relief Mobilisation Board has promptly allocated VND 22 billion to support localities affected by recent Typhoon Yagi.

Specifically, VND 13 billion was transferred to the account of the Central Relief Mobilisation Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to synthesise and balance distribution to support localities damaged by typhoon No. 3.

VND 7 billion went to support the provinces of Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Yen Bai, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Son La and Ha Giang (each province of VND 1 billion) that suffered heavy losses in terms of human lives and properties due to storm No. 3.

VND 2 billion was sent to VTV’s Tam Long Viet charity fund to construct new homes for people in Nu Village in Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District, Lao Cai Province according to the direction of the Prime Minister at the inspection and working session on overcoming the consequences of the flashflood on September 12.

Up to now, the remaining amount received by the Relief Mobilisation Board of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city is over VND 800 million.

The fundraising runs until 5:00 pm on October 10, 2024.
